About

Brass Chicks is a blog written for and by women who play brass instruments.  It aims to create a space to share our personal stories, appreciate what other musicians are doing, and to perpetuate discussion of what it means to be a woman in this male-dominated industry.  Brass Chicks is here to record our history, celebrate our present, and build our future.

Meet the bloggers

We aim to celebrate and promote the work of female brass players through interviews, news, and guest posts from fellow members of the Brass Chicks community. Our interviews typically follow a theme. Past themes include members of military ensembles, musicians who push stylistical boundaries, pioneer musicians who changed the scene for female brass players, prominent educators, and notable ensembles. We also curate a weekly series entitled Five Things Friday. Read more about it here:
